From September 2008 through April 2009, the Pennsylvania Department of Education, Bureau of Teaching and Learning Support, in partnership with Penn State University and the Center for Schools and Communities, will be offering a series of professional development training opportunities for English as a Second Language (ESL) professional educators. This professional development series is designed to build the capacity of educators and administrators to improve the achievements of English Language Learners (ELLs). This year’s professional development trainings will present the latest research and practice on the instruction of ELLs through:

  • Three videoconferences involving nine downlink sites across the state;
  • Eleven live interactive web-based trainings; and
  • Four pre-recorded web-based trainings.
