Live Online Trainings
Live Online Trainings
A number of professional development opportunities will be offered exclusively on the internet via Elluminate®. Participants will be able to log in to the trainings from any location with a computer (with speakers) and an internet connection (for sessions that allow voice communication, participants will need a headset/microphone). These trainings will be no longer than two hours in duration each. Online trainings longer than two hours are broken into multiple sessions that are scheduled on different days.
Headset/Mic
A limited number of computer headset/mics are available through the Center for Schools and Communities for those ESL educators who need them. It is not necessary to have a headset to participate in the online sessions, but participation is enhanced by using a headset/mic. Those not having access to this equipment may contact Stephanie Thorn, Administrative Assistant, Center for Schools and Communities at 717.763.1661 Ext 110 or via email at sthorn@csc.csiu.org to request a headset. There is no cost for this item. Requests will be processed on a first come, first served basis while supply lasts.
Special Note for First-Time Participants
There is no cost involved in using Elluminate. However, Elluminate requires Sun Microsystems' Java Web Start (or OpenJNLP for Mac) to be installed on your PC, so there may be a download to your system the first time you use Elluminate. To ensure that you are ready to go for the meeting, please configure your PC a few days before the meeting by simply clicking on the following link which will take you to an automated testing and configuration room. http://www.elluminate.com/support/
First-time participants are encouraged to view the 5-minute orientation recording regarding Elluminate prior to the meeting. This recording is available on the Elluminate support page. http://www.elluminate.com/support/
Please make sure your computer is equipped with a microphone and speakers or a headset/mic unit so we can use the Voice over IP functionality built into Elluminate. You will still be able to participate in the online meeting if you do not have a microphone or headset, by using the direct messaging feature found within Elluminate and your PC speakers.
Technical Support Helpline
If you require technical assistance setting up your computer or logging into the session, please contact an Elluminate Live! Customer Care Technician toll-free at 866-388-8674 option 2.
